Florida Telehealth Prescription Rules: What Patients Should Know

Florida law (Fla. Stat. §456.47) permits a licensed provider to prescribe via telehealth after establishing a patient relationship through a documented evaluation. Most ED, BPH, OAB, and low-T medications can be prescribed via telehealth. Controlled substances are restricted by federal Ryan Haight Act rules and generally require in-person evaluation.

What can be prescribed via telehealth in Florida

Non-controlled medications used in urology: PDE5 inhibitors (sildenafil, tadalafil), alpha-blockers, 5-ARIs, anticholinergics, beta-3 agonists, vaginal estrogen, topical testosterone (Schedule III — limits apply), and most antibiotics.

What we cannot prescribe online

Schedule II opioids, most testosterone-injection regimens started without an in-person visit, and any medication where the standard of care requires an exam or in-office test.
